Streak-Free Shine: A Simple Guide to Cleaning Glass and Mirrors
Streaky glass and mirrors are almost always down to technique, not the cleaner. Here’s how to get a genuinely streak-free shine every time.
1. Don’t Spray Too Much
A light, even mist of glass cleaner is enough. Over-spraying just gives you more liquid to wipe away, which increases the chance of streaks.
2. Use a Lint-Free Cloth
Paper towels and regular cloths can leave fibres behind. A microfibre cloth or old newspaper both work far better for a clear, streak-free finish.
3. Wipe in One Direction
Wipe horizontally on one side of the glass and vertically on the other. If a streak does appear, you’ll immediately know which side it’s on.
4. Avoid Direct Sunlight While Cleaning
Cleaning glass in direct sun makes the cleaner dry too fast, leaving streaks behind before you can wipe it properly. Clean on a cooler, shaded day or time of day where possible.
